Project 3

Site: Private School, Western Cape

A leading private school, recognised for academic excellence and state-of-the-art facilities, faced the dual challenge of rising energy costs and unreliable grid supply. With hundreds of learners and staff on site daily, uninterrupted electricity was essential for classrooms, IT systems, and campus infrastructure. The school sought a near off-grid solution that could cut costs, ensure reliability, and showcase its commitment to sustainability.

Our comprehensive Solution

The system features a hybrid design that combines Victron inverter/chargers with Huawei’s advanced grid-tied inverter, maximizing both reliability and performance. This integration allows for seamless energy management, ensuring efficient utilization of solar power.

A 60kWh Freedom Won battery storage system supports critical campus loads, enabling the school to operate 95% off-grid. This substantial backup capacity stores excess energy for use during non-sunny periods, enhancing energy security and contributing to significant cost savings.

The setup is also configured for smart export, allowing surplus solar generation to be sent back to the grid. This not only generates credits but also further reduces energy costs

Aesthetic integration is achieved with the installation of 80 all-black solar panels, providing a sleek, modern appearance that complements the campus architecture beautifully.
